The approved Programme of Work has been completed

with the exception of a few subsidiary accounts now being examined, certain stores records of the Land Transport not fully posted at the date of the Director of Audit's report,.

and the final accounts of the British section of the

Kowloon-Canton Railway, which had not been submitted for

audit.

36.

It has not yet been found possible to examine

fully a considerable number of deposit and advances accounts. In addition, out of 60 suspense account, 45 have not yet been

fully investigated.

37. It is not known in which cases reconciliation

between the balances of the various departmental advances, deposits, and suspense accounts and the corresponding Treasury balances has been effected, as the Accountant General was unable to supply complete information on this

point, but I understand that action is being taken to effect reconciliation of all such balances at the 31st of

March 1948.
